News from 42 Québec
In May 2024, Québec numérique, the organization behind the 42 Québec campus, was shaken by a sudden funding cut. The training program was in a precarious situation, narrowly avoiding closure, initially scheduled for July 31st.
Thanks to Québec International, which stepped in to help, 42 Québec received special funding that allows current students to continue their courses, while the team explores scenarios to welcome future cohorts.
While we cannot confirm when the next 42 Québec Piscine will take place, we are confident it will happen in the early months of 2025. That’s why we encourage you to create your profile on the admissions platform now to be the first to know when regular activities resume.
Once your profile is created, you’ll have a year to move to the next step (the intro meeting), which will then give you another year to register for a Piscine. It’s a great way to stay informed and be ready to move forward as soon as possible!
Admission
3 steps to become a 42 Québec student!
Create your profile
This step does not commit you to anything. Once your profile is created, you have one year to move forward with the next steps. After that, your profile will be anonymized.

Attend the Intro meeting
As soon as the 42 Québec team can confirm the scheduling of a Piscine, intro meetings will be added to the admissions platform. Those who have created their profile will be notified.
Some meetings are offered virtually, but most take place on-site, at the 42 Québec campus. Make sure to choose wisely!
During this mandatory meeting, the team and students will share all the details to prepare for the Piscine. It will be possible to register for the Piscine only after attending the intro meeting.
Succeeding the Piscine
The Piscine is an immersion into the world of coding that requires a full commitment for 26 consecutive days. Because 42 Québec is an alternative education program, we want to give people the opportunity to experience this new way of learning before committing to the next 3 years.
IMPORTANT! Just like the training program, the Piscine cannot be completed virtually. You must attend in person at the campus located in Quebec City.
More details about the Piscine can be found here.

The 42 Method Summary
Prepare to be challenged! At 42 Québec, there are no teachers, no lectures, and no set schedule. You are entirely responsible for your progress, and the team is here to ensure you have all the tools you need to achieve your goals.
A projects platform
Like a video game, you will need to complete projects with increasing levels of difficulty over time. To achieve this, you will have access to tutorials, a wealth of online resources, and, most importantly, your peers.
By collaborating with other students and sharing your discoveries, you will collectively find the answers.
The suggested projects are set by the 42 pedagogical team and are designed to help you acquire the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for the job market.
Flexible schedule, but...
You will have access to the campus 24/7 to work on your projects. For each suggested project, you will need to meet a reasonable deadline, which will allow you to deepen your knowledge.
However, if you miss the deadline, you will fall into a black hole, meaning you will lose access to the training.
On average, students spend a minimum of 30 hours per week at the campus to meet the deadlines. Therefore, it is important to commit full-time to the 42 Québec training, and it is not advisable to undertake it alongside a full-time job or another high-level program.
Ton of activities
Whether it’s conferences or networking activities with professionals, skill development workshops, company visits, or student life activities, each week offers diverse opportunities.
While learning to code happens in front of a computer, becoming a good programmer involves broadening your knowledge base.
Free, and no prerequisites
One should not have to pay to access high-quality education. It is thanks to financial partners who also believe in this mission that the training is offered for free.
Moreover, candidates are selected based on their motivation and ability to collaborate.
Our goal: attract talent from all backgrounds and provide everyone with an equal opportunity to secure a lasting place in the job market.
42 Québec, more than education!
It is a unique learning environment that mirrors the realities of the job market. It allows you to confront the unknown, experiment, learn from your mistakes, and continuously optimize your knowledge. The information-seeking mechanisms developed here enable students to tackle challenges strategically and adapt more easily to the ever-evolving field of technology.
